Brody Backman, my almost nephew, tuned one. It’s been a full year for all of us, especially Brody. Here he is in one of his favorite places; Lulu’s dog bed.

I found the McSweeney’s book Mountain Man Dance Moves at the humor rack at a book store in Pioneer Square when TRent and I ducked in for a mocha. Now on my list to purchase for further reading enjoyment, here is the online link to these hilarious lists:

vacation trip to Seattle

allana June 22nd, 2007

Much needed after the last few days of school, and cramming in classes and field trips, Trent and I took a little vacation to Seattle. on the agend, eating fresh pacific northwest fish, imbibing pints of micro brew, visitn friends, and happily being picture taking tourists enjoying while the walkability and public transportation. What follows are pictures from the highlights of the trip.

We met up with Bethany, the bride from Thailand; Mark and Katie ’soon-to-be’ Headley; Raquel and Michael; and a few of Trent’s friends from his damp winter days in Seattle. We also hung out a bit with the Anti-Workshop folks at Garage Billiards and I did a morning of modeling for them channeling the 60’s Bensonhurst of Bruce Davisdon and Diane Arbus, in avintage dress short veil and fake eyelashes.
The food was excellent, the weather amazing(sunny with huge rolling cloudbanks); it was all amazing.

it would have been really cool

This evening Michelle Obama came to the Kroc Center to host a fundraiser for her husband’s campaign. After lunch today, I got an inquiry if I could give her girls a private art lesson while she met her audience. It was an honor, and I was pretty excited about it. Later I got a call that the girls had decided to get ice cream instead, and they wouldn’t need me after all. The difficult decision between art class and ice cream; such is the life of girls on the campaign trail.

saturday night sox date

allana June 11th, 2007

Jim Davis bought us tickets to see with Red Sox play the D’backs at Chase Field in Phoenix. Trent and I drove out to the desert after work on Friday with a packed dinner of sandwiches and ice tea and a big old stack of CDs to listen to. What a way to start the summer. The Diamondbacks’ stadium is amazing, has that light, clean, comfortable family feeling that Fenway just doesn’t have. (here imagine snarky boston tone).

Manny didn’t play on Saturday, but I did get to see Tek and Ortiz, so I had that going for me. Also it was The Big Unit Bobble Head Day. Awesome all around.

Leaving my heavy equipment at home, I had Trent’s parent’s p&s, will post the picture of me beaming in front of Chase Field when I can.
