Wedding | The State Room Boston | S. & D.
When I first met S. & D., they were pretty clear that this was a party they wanted to throw for their family, their close friends, it wasn’t to be a spectacle but a celebration. And it was such an elegant evening celebration!
We did our portraits early, beginning at the Intercontinental on the waterfront, first look on the canal. The bride wore a fun feathery navy blue dress. Then we took a quick cab ride to The State Room where the ceremony and the reception were held in the Harborside Ballroom at The State Room. A bi-cultural secular ceremony presided was over by the bride’s father, weaving in the groom’s catholic and the bride’s Indian heritage. a rose petal toss for the recessional and then the two families launched into an enormously energetic and loving receiving line. The sun set the lighting in the ballroom transitioned and for dinner we had at our feet the sparkling city lights. The band played and everyone danced, and then more dancing.
D. sent me a note after the wedding:
I loved the photographs, so thank you a thousand times over for taking such great shots and being such a kind presence on our wedding day. Ever since the wedding, I’ve tried to re-live the experience in my mind; your photos put me right back in that happy state. Thank you for telling such a wonderful story in pictures and making us look so good!
Congratulations to you both!

The rollers come out, and the hair is released.
S. wore the same jewelry that her mother and her sister wore at their weddings.

Wedding | Lake New Hampshire | J & D
I suspected from the unique concept, thoughtfully considered and carefully crafted invitation to J & D’s wedding that we were in for something special. And I was right. The first Saturday in July, in Andover New Hampshire, two beautiful people united their lives, their families, their love.
I’ve worked alongside J., whose film media production company, Rough Mountain Studios, shares space with me in Jamaica Plain’s Ad Hoc Boston co-working studio for the the past year and have gotten to know D. as well. I was particularly honored when they asked me to be the visual documentarian of their wedding. They truly poured their souls into this event.
The unitarian service, held in a chapel in the woods, a place where the bride herself played as a girl, included nods to their Irish and Italian Catholic heritage as well as incorporating their life work in social justice issues.
D. thoroughly thought through all the details for an enchanted forest theme under an enormous white tent, candles, lights, and unique touches crafted with love from the couple, their friends and families. Both the service and the reception incorporated song, prayer and love.
Late at night, the stars reflected in the cool dark stillness of Bradley Lake, and the celebratory sounds of the salsa band warming the night air.
Wedding | Pizzaiolo Oakland California | L & B {part two}
Wedding | Pizzaiolo Oakland California | L & B {part one}
A post in several parts. This was an absolutely gorgeous wedding last month in Oakland at one of my favorite East Bay restaurants, Pizzaiolo. L. and B. put so much care and thought into an elegant food and drink filled evening, it was joyful to be a part of their celebration. They have an easy rapport with each other, and that extends to their loving families and friends who joined in the revelry with them.
L. gets the red lipstick set.
part two coming soon . . . .
