Happy Holidays
in search of the lyrical
On our Thanksgiving trip out to Phoenix, we took a detour to see the Grand Canyon. A few hundred meters into the Bright Angel Trail, we came across a group of big horned sheep; literally right next to use, so close if we had wanted we could have reached out and touched them. Though, clearly, we didn’t.
I had in my hands only, gasp!, a film camera, so these are a few images Trent took with a digital camera.
And the quintessential long-armed-stretch-wide-angled-self-portrait of the two of us, two days into car-crazy.
happy halloween!
Happy Halloween. I decided, after spying a feathery head at Forever21, to go as Kenley from Project Runway. Below and more traditional costume, on a very adorable child.

presidio, legion of honor, and clement street crepes
Luis (also a photographer) and his lovely girlfriend Amy invited to me join them this afternoon to see the AL exhibit at the Legion of Honor. Both the exhibit and the museum were amazing, and hugely packed for Easter Sunday. It was my first trip to the museum, and I am so happy to have such an amazing place a short bus ride away from our new home. After the museum, we took Amy’s convertible to Clement Street where we dined at Burma Superstar (amazing!), and finished off the day with crepes and a stroll through a few shops on Clement Street.

shooting with Juliet Nicole
One of the new friends in my life, bay area photographer Juliet Nicole , invited me to join her for a day after shoot here in San Francisco. Her clients were just as wonderful and full of delight as she is. We had an amazing afternoon traipsing around the city, shooting until there was no longer any sunlight and we finished off the day with a delicious Japanese dinner.
Here are a few of my personal favorites from Saturday:

the great san francisco pillow fight
Ahhh, the joys of living in such a city as this. Trent and I began our Valentine’s Day evening at The Great San Francisco Pillow Fight. Happy Valentine’s Day!

tag. I am it. here goes.
I was been blog-tagged (blagged?) by Melissa Schwartz of Organic Photographs ages ago. I’ve been dreadfully negligent about getting to this post. It’s been hanging around in my wordpress drafts like a albatross made of html links. Likely, as I don’t read that many blogs. Ooh, it that a terrible, horrible, no good very bad thing to admit?
So here goes. 8 things you might not know about me:
1. If a movie involves fantasy, space travel or time travel; sign me up. Which means that yes, Virginia, I am a BSG fan.
2. I am an owner of Donna Barr’s Desert Peach graphic novel collection.
3. I studied Latin (yes, the dead language) for 6 (yes, six) years.
4. I’ll pretty much eat flan at any opportunity.
5. I love shopping at
Comerical in Mexico. It is far, far better than Vons or Ralphs.
6. I drink a lot of Sadaf, Special Blend Tea, with cardamom flavor. Sometimes I brew it in milk. Sometimes I don’t. I’m fickle like that.
7. I started a morning running routine about the same time Trent started getting into baking cakes. This is not a coincidence.
8. My dog makes me very, very happy.

thanksgiving

Trent and I had a fantastic Thanksgiving on the Cape with my family. We ate well, drank well, and laughed well. We spent a few cold hours watching a ridiculously enormous tv. Trent and my dad sang along to Legally Blonde the Musical; my mother heckled the girl on Made; and we watched Bret Michaels make television history. Lest you are appalled by the amount of untraditional revelry, we did go to Plymouth Rock, and had a good laugh with the costumed actors heading toward the Mayflower II.

which city?, witch city
Kristen pointed out that we were nearing Salem; and it was the Sunday before Halloween. Hmmm . . after bungling it by following the signs to Salem, New Hampshire (uh . . at one point I did live in New England, but clearly California has pushed certain geographic information out of my brain), we did make it to Witch City. There was madness afoot everywhere. Take a peek.

Happy Halloween!
vermontaineering
On our way back to Boston, we took a day to take pictures for fun.
