Blisswork | Boston Engagement Portraits | M & S

Lovely summer engagement session at the Boston Public Garden.  They met in Hawaii, though M.’s brother, whom I suspect will deliver a great toast on their wedding day.

S. and I went to high school together, and reconnected last summer when I manically attempted to re-photograph our classmates fifteen years later.  See the other characters we studied with here.

Blisswork | New York Engagement Portaits | E & T

and some more:

I met E. through mutual friend at a bar in San Diego nearly six years ago. Turns out we grew up in the same neighborhood (Dot Rats, anyone?) and went to the same high school, are both the bewitching and cassic Boston mix of Italian and Irish and both have sisters named Christina.  And yet, strangely, we had never met before.  She extended an invitation to join her informal architects dive bar Wednesdays. I, of course, accepted.  And we have been friends since.  That’s what it takes to win me over, a few pints in a vinyl booth at an awesomely lousy bar.   Erica moved to New York not long after we met, and then she met T. I went down to that other city to use Central Park as a location for their engagement portraits.  In the words of The Avett Brothers, in January they are getting married.  It will be their own winter classic.

Blisswork | Boston Engagement Portraits | E & A

When E. and A. asked to do their engagement session in full wedding attire, I was a bit surprised but got into it once they explained that they wanted to do an extended portrait session on their wedding day, but couldn’t work it into the time line. And so  we met at one of their favorite places – the sculpture garden at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln.  We had a great evening exploring the possibilities of the sculptures as textures, shapes and environments for portraits.  E. had two  beautiful headpieces to work with, one a more traditional with white birdcage veil, the other a wildly colored pink and orange hat, which she wore with smashing attitude and aplomb.  Perfect use of a pink tie and orange Gerber daisy by the handsome groom.  They rocked this shoot – complete with a little dance moves to an iphone in the suit pocket.

Blisswork | South Boston Engagement Portraits | M & R

These lovebirds live in Southie, so that’s where we met up to do an evening engagement session.  After being set up by M. that R, was disinterested in doing the shoot, her totally rocked it.  Began at the site of the waterfront proposal, and spend some time along L street, ending up at the L Street Tavern.  A pint is a good way to close out a shoot.
