Blisswork | Boston Engagement Portraits | S & B

To hear them tell it, recounting their first meeting, S. and B. had an instant and easy rapport.  I recognized this the first time we met at the studio.  They are genuinely happy to be near one another, and that warmth and affection radiates from them.  We met up  last weekend, at the scene of their actual proposal and engagement,  to do a portrait session.  Impending thunderstorms and slight drizzle did naught to dampen the mood.  Looking forward to their wedding later this summer at the Nashoba Valley Winery.

Ending the evening at the Oak Room in the Fairmont Copley with a glass of wine and a kiss.

Lovely afternoon in the park with lovebirds.

Boston Family Portrait | Beacon Hill | Ning Family

I was commissioned by a daughter to make a portrait of her parents for her mother’s birthday.  They arrived on location dressed to the nines (tux! white beaded gown!), and we created some pretty formal traditional portraits.  And suddenly the formal facade slipped and they started laughing. I love this shot of the parent beaming at their daughter – their joy and happiness is so real!

Boston Family Portrait | Jamaica Plain | Frannie

Friend of a friend from High School, and as it so often happens we discovered we had other mutual friends and colleagues.  Beautiful spring afternoon in the park.

What I mistook for her purse, was actually Frannie’s gardening bag,

complete with a set of pink trowels and shovels.

More from Sunday’s Harvard Square Engagement Portraits.  Trent came along with me for the shoot, and we had a great time with J. and C. – even taking a mid-shoot beer break.

Wedding | Parson’s Table Aledo Texas | K & B

My Forth Worth rituals: cherry lime slush at Sonic, brisket and pickles at Cousins bbq, indulging in the extra time expected to ‘put my face on,’ channeling as much of my mother-in-law’s grace and charm as I can muster, and, of course, seeing the cast of Texans with whom I have now become good friends. In that cast of characters I include this lovely bride, K.

She is a most delightful person, and I was delighted for her when, during the reception of a wedding she shot with me in Dallas last December, she squeezed my hand and whispered that she herself was engaged.  I was thrilled and honored to be asked to photograph another photographer’s wedding, and tickled that as a matter of course – the entire day was scheduled around the best possible light.

A vintage garden party theme. Birdcages and flowers, Flowers and more birdcages. An easy romantic vibe.  After the ceremony at their familys’ chapel, the guests met in Aledo for a tented reception at The Parson’s Table. Picnic baskets and picnic blankets, dancing and laughing.  And they were sent off with rose petals to . . . B surprised K their honeymoon destination asking her to make sure to pack a swimsuit, a sweater and a passport. That’s my kind of adventure!

Destination? Joy, I’m pretty sure.

One of my favorites from this morning’s engagement portrait session with the beautiful J. and the tough-it-out C. – who heroically made it through the entire session with a broken elbow.  Recognize this bar?

Still wading through all the images that Lynn and I photographed in Fort Worth last weekend.

A little peek: I love this picture of the bride getting her veil placed.
