the pleasure is mine
allana April 9th, 2008

With more than a decade of photographic and studio art experience, Allana’s photography blends traditional standards and creative exploration. She works in a variety of photographic styles, unifying photojournalism, editorial and fine art.
Allana earned a Masters in Art Education from Massachusetts College of Art, and holds a Bachelors degree in Photography and Media Studies from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. The studio name, Ars Magna [Latin for ‘great art’], was chosen as a tribute to her six years at Boston Latin School, where she translated many classics.
Allana has taught studio art through the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and the Boston Public Schools. She also served as program director for Positive Development, an after school photography program for at-risk youth. She honed her event photography skills and cocktail party chatter while shooting for Harvard University. For her first several years in California, Allana served as teaching artist through the San Diego Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
In addition to working on photographic commissions, Allana continues to exhibit her own work, and is actively involved in community artist groups.
